Small changes to look after your cardiovascular health
Experts always advise that, in order to manage your cholesterol, there are a number of rules to follow. We have summarised them in this article to help you to protect your health and keep it in the best possible condition.
The aim is to get your vital processes working properly. All you need to do is to monitor your heart rate on a daily basis. Ignoring it can lead to disruption in your regular routines.
How can it be controlled?
Cholesterol is a fat-like substance and it is essential for the body to function properly, as it produces vitamin D, hormones and bile acids, among other substances. If there is too much of it, there is a risk of hardening of the arteries or arteriosclerosis. When that happens, your cardiovascular health will be harmed.
It should be noted that the liver is the organ in your body that produces most of your cholesterol, about 80% of it. The rest of it comes from eating foods of animal origin.
Small changes for your cardiovascular health
The following guidelines will help you to stay heart healthy.
Keep an eye on your cholesterol
If you cut out saturated fats, like the ones found in dairy products, processed baked goods and processed products in general, you will be able to keep it at bay.
Check your blood pressure regularly
High blood pressure strikes without warning. It is important to check it regularly to keep it under control. Simply moderating the amount of salt in your diet will help you to reduce it.
Get your body moving
Various human studies have confirmed that staying active with simple exercise such as walking for an hour a day reduces the likelihood of coronary heart disease. And, if you’re thinking of blaming the weather, “use your feet not your wheels”. This is a little trick to avoid a sedentary lifestyle.
Stop stress with breathing
Slow your heart rate by taking short pauses to steady your breathing. Inhaling and exhaling through your nose at times of stress helps to relax your heart beat.
The European Guidelines on Cardiovascular Disease Prevention in Clinical Practice clearly state that high blood pressure is among the leading causes of heart problems.
Get a good night’s sleep
It has been shown that people who get a good night's rest to restore their bodies reduce their chances of arterial disease by up to 65%. It is advisable to sleep for between seven and eight hours a day.
Try Keriba Duo
As you already know, extra virgin olive oil provides health benefits for your heart. This natural extract obtained from the fruit of the olive and the pomegranate is great for keeping your heart healthy.
Food tips
Nowadays, diet and physical exercise play a key role in keeping cholesterol levels down. To help you to enjoy or restore good cardiovascular health, here are some foods that strike the right balance in protecting your heart.
The beneficial foods,
include the following groups:
- Healthy fats e.g. in oily fish, cold-pressed olive oil, nuts and eggs.
- The fibre found in vegetables, leafy greens and fresh fruits.
- Plant-based proteins, for example from lentils, brown rice and seeds.
When it comes to harmful foods:
- Processed carbohydrates and sugars: this type of food triggers a release of excess insulin, which leads to hypoglycaemia, a dangerous condition for human health.
- Refined vegetable oils: as they are produced at high temperatures, they are oxidised fats that are bad for your arteries. Sunflower oil and margarines.
Controlling your cholesterol is possible if you know how to do it. We provide you with a simple and natural way to look after your heart. Try it!
Oxidative damage: tips on how to prevent it
Oxidation is a process that occurs naturally in your body. But, like everything else, the dose makes the poison. A number of factors can increase oxidation in your body, which, in turn, can damage your cells. This is called oxidative stress. We recommend that you follow a number of tips to prevent damage caused by excessive oxidation of compounds.
Tips on how to prevent oxidative damage
When a large amount of free radicals are produced by various metabolic processes in your body, you can experience what is called cell damage. To put it simply, the cell will be damaged by these “by-products”, which can alter its DNA and with it, its normal programmed functions. The appearance of premature cell ageing may be one of the symptoms. For this reason, many people with early signs of ageing are recommended antioxidant treatments. In addition, free radical damage can lead to mutations in DNA that modify cells and predispose to diseases such as cancer.
Avoid smoking
The harmful compounds in cigarettes will lead to the increased production of free radicals and oxidative damage to your cells. In fact, smoking is a risk factor for numerous diseases and it is no coincidence that one of the most aggressive forms of cancer is lung cancer. Toxic compounds are cumulative and extremely harmful. Nowadays, there are a number of methods for quitting smoking that are available at your pharmacy.
Diet with antioxidants
Antioxidants will “cleanse” your body of these by-products. These are very potent compounds found in food supplements and certain foods. Above all, it is important to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. Specifically, vitamin C from citrus fruits is a potent antioxidant, as is vitamin E. It is also important to take selenium supplements, a mineral found in sunflower seeds, eggs and oily fish. Vitamin A, commonly found in carrots, peppers and other brightly coloured vegetables, is also a potent antioxidant.
Additionally, it is important to include vegetables that are rich in tannins, such as spinach and green tea which, when infused, has a high concentration of these highly antioxidant compounds. The antioxidant power of wine is also well known, although, in this case, it is widely accepted that the harmful effects of alcohol would outweigh the benefits.
Avoid exposure to the sun's rays
Of course, the sun's rays can help us produce vitamin D, but everything in moderation! When you prolong the exposure time, you are damaging the deepest layers of your skin and, in doing so, you produce more free radicals. We recommend using sunscreen, especially if you are going to be outdoors for more than 20 minutes.
Plants with antioxidants and food supplements
Pharmacology started with the isolation of active ingredients from plants. Some well-known plants are used to reduce inflammation in various disorders and to boost the immune system. Some roots, like onions and garlic, are well known for their high antioxidant compounds. Specifically, allicin from garlic is isolated in food supplements. Pomegranate also provides great antioxidant power. Keriba Forte contains this antioxidant preparation that is based on an extract from this fruit. They are not regarded as medicines, they are natural preparations that will provide you with numerous benefits without any harmful effects.
Without any doubt, protecting yourself from oxidative stress is an essential part of looking after your health for a long life. Always trust the professionals and change your lifestyle.
How to lower your cholesterol after Christmas
After Christmas, overindulgence in food and drink takes its toll on your body, so it's no wonder if you start to feel jittery! Attacks of gout, abdominal pains, poorer digestion for several days, bloating, etc. While this is all happening, there’s also a silent enemy that decides to rear its head. Yes, we’re talking about cholesterol and the fact that it has risen over the holidays.
High cholesterol is one of the major cardiovascular risk factors. Your total levels are measured in a blood test and it is recommended not to exceed 200 milligrams per decilitre. It is important to distinguish between the two types, “good” cholesterol or the HDL molecule and “bad” cholesterol or the LDL molecule, which we have already discussed in the past. When it's time to get back into your normal routine after Christmas, you should ask for a blood test or a check-up with your primary care physician. In fact, according to the Spanish Heart Foundation, your cholesterol levels may have risen by as much as 10%.
What happens after the overindulgence?
It's normal to assume that the increase may be due to a higher intake of fat; however, sweet treats and foods rich in simple carbohydrates (marzipan, nougat, sweets and chocolates) account for a large proportion of the increase in total cholesterol and LDL levels. Alcohol is also responsible for this increase.
Eating too many sweet things and drinking too much alcohol at Christmas promotes the formation of triglycerides in the liver. These molecules can be converted into cholesterol. Firstly, they are converted into VLDL and then into LDL molecules, thereby raising total cholesterol levels.
Meanwhile, the increase in triglycerides and LDL interferes with HDL molecules, causing their numbers to fall. It is important to note that HDL is a molecule that protects us from cardiovascular disease.
As well as the above, foods containing a high proportion of this molecule (cholesterol), like sausages, liver, ready meals and processed baked goods, also play a part in increasing cholesterol levels.
Tips and solutions for controlling cholesterol
For the coming Christmas season, try to hold back on the foods that can be most detrimental to your health, whether they be refined foods, alcohol or sweet treats. Diet and physical activity are key to controlling the levels of this cardiovascular risk factor. Everyone knows that our diet is worse and we do less exercise at Christmas, but you should try to keep the unhealthy days to a minimum and make up for them on the other days.
Remember to increase your vegetable intake and eat at least 2 pieces of fruit a day, when you are not celebrating. The high fibre content of these foods may help lower your overall cholesterol levels by decreasing the amount of it you absorb and by promoting its excretion in your faeces.
It's advisable to add foods rich in omega-3, a compound that lowers cholesterol levels, which is found in nuts (such as walnuts or almonds), oily fish (tuna, sardines or mackerel) and olive oil.
It's also advisable to take natural supplements like Keriba Duo, which contains natural extracts of olive and pomegranate, natural antioxidants that help to you look after your cardiovascular health. This healthy, natural food supplement helps you to combat and prevent high cholesterol and control the levels of cholesterol in your blood.
We already know that physical activity is essential. If you can't stick to your exercise routine, try walking at maximum tolerable intensity for 20 minutes a day. Keeping active will also promote the elimination of excess cholesterol. And try to resume your usual activity as soon as possible. If you're not doing any exercise yet, set yourself a challenge for the New Year!
Enjoying the festive season is about enjoying the company of others. Don't overindulge in alcohol and food. Practice mindful eating, always choosing healthy foods.
High levels of cholesterol and triglycerides have adverse effects on your long-term health and can lead to diseases ranging from thromboembolic events and strokes to angina pectoris and possible heart attacks. Remember to keep yourself at a healthy weight and follow your doctor's advice at all times.
What are allergy shots and how effective are they?
Desensitising or hyposensitising vaccines, also known as allergy shots, are vaccines that form part of the aetiological treatments (i.e. ones that target the causes) used for allergic diseases. If, for example, you are sensitised to certain environmental substances that you are forced to breathe in, you can cope with them effectively by getting vaccinated.
The only approach that does not require treatment with drugs is to avoid any exposure to the substance that is causing the allergy.
But allergic patients are well aware that far too often this strategy is difficult to put into practice, because they are forced to live with the substance or simply cannot control when it will appear.
So what alternatives are there? You could try preventive medicines, such as antihistamines, but they are not always fully effective against the symptoms. You also have to take them indefinitely (they are lifelong treatments) and sometimes they have some unwanted side effects.
On the other hand, allergen immunotherapy (aka allergy shots) is a highly effective treatment. Its progress has been spectacular over the last 100 years and, in fact, the WHO (World Health Organisation) considers it to be the only treatment capable of altering the course of the disease. Research is ongoing to develop specific vaccines for more and more types of allergies.
What types of allergies already have vaccines?
The most common allergies already have their own immunotherapy treatment. Hypersensitivity to mites, fungi, pollen, animal epithelia, latex, some foods and insect bites can be treated with allergy shots.
However, there are some other allergies that cannot yet be treated with allergen immunotherapy. Some food allergies, some types of dermatitis and allergies caused by certain drugs (e.g. penicillin) are yet to benefit from vaccines. But research is still ongoing to achieve effective results for these diseases as well.
What types of patients should receive allergy shots?
The way in which the disease manifests itself in each patient must be considered. If the symptoms are not very severe or are improving without the need for pharmacological therapy, vaccination is not necessary. It would also not be necessary if exposure to the allergen can be easily avoided.
But if you are an allergy sufferer who experiences very severe, frequent or disabling symptoms, vaccination may be highly recommended for you.
Efficacy of vaccines
Allergy vaccination will be more effective the earlier it is administered, once a correct diagnosis has been made. However, before trying this treatment, it is always advisable to wait for a certain amount of time to see how the allergy progresses. Having said that, if you wait too long and the symptoms get significantly worse, its efficacy may be reduced.
With this in mind, another reason why allergen immunotherapy may be less effective is if the patient is sensitised to multiple allergens.
You start to feel the effects of the vaccine 6 to 12 months after starting treatment, but its effectiveness peaks around the second year. The duration of immunotherapy treatment is usually 3 to 5 years, depending on the clinical judgement of the specialist.
The vaccine is administered in gradual doses, until the optimal or effective dose is reached. This is why its effects are also gradual. In the short term, the aim of vaccination is to reduce the symptoms. In the long term, it prevents the progression of the disease. Following treatment, the effect can last for many years or for a lifetime.
At Probelte Pharma we have spent over 20 years manufacturing and researching allergen immunotherapy treatments, developing vaccines that target the cause of the disease.
Probelte Pharma, advances in immunotherapy.
How can you lower your cholesterol levels naturally?
Over 50% of the Spanish population suffers from hypercholesterolaemia, an alarming figure if you consider that high cholesterol is one of the main health issues worldwide. Adopting healthy habits through diet and exercise is the best way to control and reduce cholesterol levels and guarantee good health.
For this reason, at Probelte Pharma we have developed Keriba Duo, natural capsules for cholesterol that help to prevent the risks associated with developing cardiovascular diseases like high blood pressure. After all, do we really know what it means to have high cholesterol?
Diseases
Too much cholesterol in your arteries causes them to narrow and stiffen, making it more difficult for blood to flow properly. This is known as arteriosclerosis and becomes especially dangerous if it happens in the coronary arteries, as this increases the risk of a heart attack or chronic heart disease.
Unhealthy habits
Alcohol, smoking and eating lots of salt are some of the biggest causes of high cholesterol; drinking too much alcohol can raise cholesterol and triglyceride levels, and smoking damages blood vessels, increasing the likelihood of developing heart disease. Meanwhile, regularly eating too much salt can lead to high blood pressure.
Physical activity
Running, walking or swimming for at least 30 minutes a day and 5 times a week helps you to lose excess weight, and reduce LDL cholesterol levels. As these are aerobic exercises, they make the heart pump faster and harder so your metabolism speeds up, resulting in more calories being burned, and they also help to stimulate enzymes that promote the movement of LDL cholesterol from the artery walls to the liver, aiding its subsequent elimination.
Diet, cholesterol-lowering foods
As we explained in previous posts, there are two types of cholesterol which are known as bad cholesterol (LDL) and good cholesterol (HDL). Any efforts you make to lower your cholesterol levels should be focused on lowering the bad cholesterol (LDL), which is made up of low-density lipoproteins.
Therefore, it is recommended that your diet be low in saturated and trans fats and salt, i.e. avoid fried foods, processed foods and ready meals, sausages, full-fat dairy products, etc. The foods we recommend you add to your diet are as follows:
- Oats and barley: whose regular consumption can reduce LDL cholesterol levels in the blood by 10%.
- Vegetable oils: olive oil is very good for us. It should be consumed raw to preserve all its properties, and it is high in monounsaturated fatty acids (oleic acid), vitamin E and phytosterols.
- Nuts: they contain phytosterol, which is known to reduce levels of bad cholesterol.
- Pulses: they lower the risk of fat building up on the walls of arteries.
- Fruits and vegetables: if you consume them whole and not in juices, you will retain their fibre content, which has a cholesterol-lowering effect.
- Oily fish: higher in vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids than white fish. These types of fish are convenient to eat because many of them are canned, like sardines, mackerel, bonito or tuna.
As we said at the start of this post, at Probelte Pharma we have created Keriba Duo, a supplement in the form of natural capsules for cholesterol, with no chemicals added in the laboratory, created from natural extracts obtained from the fresh fruits of the olive (Olea europaea) and the pomegranate (Punica granatum L.). A healthy, natural food supplement that helps you to combat high cholesterol and restore normal levels in your blood.
Origins of the San Silvestre road race
Running enthusiasts compete in races throughout the year, so why not end the year in the same way? Running on 31 December is a good way to see out the year, amidst the festivities and Christmas excesses, and every day more and more people are choosing to end the year by running despite the lure of Christmas feasts and the cold weather.
At Probelte Pharma we believe that food and sport are the key to good health and we love the idea of combining the two at such an important time of year, whether it's to make sure we don't forget our goals in the middle of the festive season or to make a start on our New Year’s resolutions.
But who was Saint Silvester?
Around the year 270 a child was born, whom his parents named Sylvester and who from a very young age began to distinguish himself through his selfless charity, becoming highly regarded in Rome at the time for his humility. So much so that he was later elected as Pope Sylvester I and is remembered for such deeds as declaring Sunday to be the ‘Lord's Day’ for Catholics to commemorate the Resurrection. He died on 31 December in the year 337. For this reason, they started celebrating the feast in his honour on the last day of each year.
The first race
Several centuries later, in 1923, Cásper Líbero travelled to France where he witnessed a night race on 1 January in which all the runners carried torches. So in 1924, on his return to Sao Paulo, he decided to hold his own version of the night race to bid farewell to the year on 31 December, Saint Sylvester's Day.
After that first event, more and more participants joined the race, until in 1945, after almost 20 years, the journalist decided to turn it into an international race, inviting athletes from other countries.
Distance
Originally, the race covered a distance of 8 km and it has been changed on many occasions, reaching distances of 6, 5, 7, and 12 km. Finally, each city now chooses its distance based on the available route and its difficulty, the most common distance being 10 km.
Race in Spain
Nowadays there are an impressive two hundred different San Silvestre races across the country, but the first Spanish San Silvestre race was held in the Vallecas district (Madrid) in 1964. Although the first event was called the Gran Premio de Vallecas, since the second year it has been called the San Silvestre Vallecana and has become a top race and Christmas tradition, with as many as 40,000 participants signing up to take part.
Although it was originally intended for professional athletes, today there are two categories to choose from: the San Silvestre Popular (open to anyone over 16 years of age), and the San Silvestre Internacional (for a maximum of 500 athletes with personal bests of less than 38‘ for men and 45’ for women).
Race in the rest of the world
In addition to the Corrida de Sao Silvestre (Sao Paulo) and San Silvestre Vallecana (Madrid), there are many other memorable races to be enjoyed on this day around the world:
- In London, people have been running in the ‘Brita Resolution Run’ on 31 December for over 25 years.
- In Germany, the Berliner Silvesterlauf, a 6.3 and 9.9 km race through the forest in Berlin.
- In Italy, thousands of Italian runners take part in the Rome 10K, a race that passes by the city's most iconic landmarks, including the Coliseum, Circo Massimo, Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Venezia.
As you can see, it is an excellent way to see out 2017, although at Probelte Pharma we recommend that you do sport all year round, with the help of natural sports supplements.
Remember, one of our most outstanding products is Keriba Sport, a natural food supplement based on POMANOX (extract of the whole fresh fruit of the pomegranate, Punica granatum L.), magnesium and vitamin B6, which delays the onset of fatigue and exhaustion, reducing muscle damage and inflammation after physical exercise.
There's no excuse for not taking care of yourself at Christmas too!
Allergies: what they are and how to spot them
When we notice that we have an itchy throat, irritated eyes, a stuffy nose, etc., we usually put it down to temperature changes and assume that we have a cold, but what if we are confusing allergy symptoms with other conditions?
At Probelte Pharma, a laboratory that manufactures vaccines and allergy tests, we believe that getting a proper diagnosis of allergic sensitisation is the first step to helping patients enjoy a better quality of life. With this in mind, we manufacture various diagnostic tests, which help patients to avoid the allergen in question or to receive appropriate treatment.
WHAT IS AN ALLERGY?
It is an immune response by your body when foreign substances enter it, so it is simply your body's defence mechanism to protect you against any substance that may enter your body through the respiratory or digestive tracts, or through your skin. When the body recognises these as foreign substances, it tries to neutralise them, either through tolerance mechanisms or by triggering an extreme immune response, which leads to what we call allergy symptoms.
TYPES OF ALLERGIES
Depending on the symptoms they produce and trigger, there are three different types of allergy, each of which are therefore diagnosed and treated differently:
RESPIRATORY ALLERGIES
Some people have a strong reaction when an external substance comes into contact with their respiratory system. This typically includes coughing, sneezing, tickling in the nose, eye irritation with tearing, itching, rhinitis and sometimes even asthma and these are triggered by a reaction to allergens such as grasses, dust, pollen or dust mites, among others. It is the most common form of allergy across the world.
SKIN ALLERGIES
This includes allergies that are caused by contact with the skin or through the skin (bites), the most common reactions are hives, eczema of the skin and inflammation, due to allergens such as medicines, metals, especially nickel, foods such as peach or kiwi and insect bites.
FOOD ALLERGIES
Food allergy is an altered response by the immune system to ingestion, contact or inhalation of a food, a component/ingredient or even a trace of a food.
The substances that cause allergies are not the foods themselves, they are caused by some of the proteins that are part of their composition, which are called allergens.
At this point we must ask ourselves what the difference is between food allergy and food intolerance, which are commonly confused. As noted above, an allergy is an immune response by the body to a foreign substance, in this case the reaction to a food could be either digestive (intestinal pain, diarrhoea or vomiting) or of another type (redness/rashes on the skin or inflammation). Your body reacts to allergens by producing IgE antibodies.
However, where intolerances are concerned, two different situations may occur, with or without the involvement of the immune system. In the first case, your body will produce IgG antibodies instead of IgE and the visible reaction will not be as immediate as it is with allergies, and in the second case the intolerance will be due to a lack of the enzymes responsible for metabolising certain foods, thus making you intolerant to them.
TYPES OF DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
The tests performed by the specialist are designed to identify the substance that is triggering the allergic response in the patient. The most commonly used methods for diagnosing the cause of the disease are as follows:
- The prick test or immediate sensitive test: this involves applying a drop of the allergen being tested to the skin to assess the allergic inflammatory response. The skin is lifted slightly without bleeding (a gentle prick) and a single test is usually performed for several allergens, with each sample drop about 2 cm apart. The results are known in around 20 minutes.
- Patch test, epicutaneous test or delayed hypersensivity: this test is assessed after 48-72 hours and requires more than one visit to a medical specialist, as allergen-soaked discs or patches are applied to the back and the response is observed after this time.
- Allergen-specific IgE test or RAST: these are special blood tests where they test for the IgE (antibodies involved in the allergic reaction) specific to the allergen suspected of causing the symptoms, based on the patient's medical history.
- Challenge tests: the patient is exposed to the selected allergens in a controlled manner, with the aim of reproducing the symptoms in the target organ (nose, eyes, bronchial tubes). They are used to diagnose allergies to medicines, foods and additives.
In this case of challenge tests that use injections, a small dose of allergen is administered and the response it triggers is observed. These tests are often used to test tolerance/intolerance for food or drug allergies.
At Probelte Pharma we have a wealth of experience in manufacturing diagnostic allergy tests.
Don't miss out on enjoying days out in nature, find out if you really have an allergy and learn how to avoid the symptoms or treat them.
Therapeutic nutrition and food supplements
The secret to good health is simply to maintain a balanced diet, a good level of physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle. When we talk about nutrition, we mean providing your body with the nutrients it needs to carry out all the body's biological processes, but this raises the following question: If I eat well, do I actually need food supplements? What purpose do they serve?
At Probelte Pharma we can answer this question because we have over 10 years of experience in researching therapeutic nutrition, with cutting-edge technology and a multidisciplinary team of experts from different fields.
THERAPEUTIC NUTRITION
At this point we must first explain what therapeutic nutrition is and what it entails. Therapeutic nutrition is a type of therapy that consists of correcting any nutritional deficiencies that a person may suffer from by supplying the nutrients they are lacking, either through food or natural supplementation.
FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
Food supplements are concentrated sources of nutrients or substances with a physiological effect. They can be found both in physical shops and online in many different formats, from capsules, ampoules, vials and drops to small single-dose bottles or larger formats with a dispenser. The type of format will depend to some extent on the nutrients or components included: vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, plant and herbal extracts, among others.
Food supplements should not be confused with fortified foods, which are foods in which the content of one or more nutrients is higher than usual.
TYPES OF FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
They can basically be classified according to their origin, whether they be synthetic food supplements, created entirely in a laboratory, or natural food supplements, which are of animal, vegetable or mineral origin and have not been chemically altered.
At Probelte Pharma we opt for the latter, offering our KERIBA range of online natural food supplements, created with olive extract (Mediteanox ®) and pomegranate extract (Pomanox ®).
CONTENTS OF FOOD SUPPLEMENTS
Nutrients are chemicals that come from outside the cell and are needed by the cell to carry out its vital functions. They are mainly categorised as macronutrients (carbohydrates, lipids and proteins) and micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).
Due to factors such as modern diets, preservation methods and cultivation techniques, diets are now more deficient in certain nutrients. The main nutrients in food supplements are:
MAGNESIUM
Of vital importance to the human body, it supports vitamin D absorption for the bones, nerve impulse transmission and muscle relaxation, among many other processes.
It can mostly be found in foods that are rich in chlorophyll, a plant component that contains magnesium: nuts (almonds, cashews or walnuts), soya, cereals (brown rice or millet). Fat and alcohol hinder its absorption.
ANTIOXIDANTS
Antioxidants are a group of vitamins, phytochemicals and minerals that produce an antioxidant effect on other substances, called free radicals, which are considered to be harmful to the body. Free radicals are products of the body's metabolism process, but when too many of them are produced, they affect the stability and functionality of cells by oxidising them.
Environmental pollution, stress, a poor diet, prolonged exposure to UV radiation or a lack of physical exercise or too much exercise increase the number of free radicals, which is why our body secretes antioxidant enzymes to fight them. In addition to our body's natural secretion of antioxidants, there are many external sources of them, such as: grapes, blueberries, strawberries, beetroot, pomegranate, soya, green tea, lentils, olives and peas.
Therefore, taking natural food supplements rich in these elements, together with a combination of healthy exercise and eating habits, will help you to strike the right balance of the nutrients your body needs.
Remember, after over 10 years of research, at ProbeltePharma we have developed our KERIBA range of online natural food supplements, created with olive extract (Mediteanox ®) and pomegranate extract (Pomanox ®) and you can purchase them online on our website.
4 basic tips to get beach body ready in 2018
After a relaxed summer full of excesses, autumn arrives, and with it the return of all your routines, both at work and at home. A new phase is beginning and you're already thinking about next year, so you need to start preparing yourself physically and mentally. If you want to be ready for summer 2018, you need to get started as soon as possible, making the process gradual and continuous rather than leaving it to the last few months before the holidays.
Adapting to this new season is not easy, mainly because of the change in temperature, which affects your body, and therefore also your mind. The best way to face this change of season is to follow certain basic rules in your routine that will keep your energy levels up every day: eat a healthy diet to eliminate toxic substances from your body, take up exercise again after the holidays, set a goal so that you know what you want to achieve and take vitamins for tiredness that will help you to perform better throughout the day.
Here are a few tips that we at Probelte Pharma believe are essential for staying in shape:
Healthy and balanced diet
It should be noted that each individual needs to follow a different diet, depending on how many calories they burn, to make sure that they eat exactly what they need, without overdoing or underdoing it. The key lies in balance and moderation, which is why no food group should be omitted from your diet, as they all provide your body with nutrients. Therefore, all foods that do not provide any nutritional value, like pastries and soft drinks, should be completely eliminated.
Drinking more water than usual is one of the most important habits to adopt, as water helps to dissolve fat and substances that need to be eliminated from the body. It's also essential to avoid alcohol, as it only contains empty calories that are converted into fat.
Physical activity
To get a toned body you need to do certain specific exercises. First of all, you need to destroy the layer of fat that covers your muscles by doing cardio exercises, which will also increase your stamina. You can go running, cycling, swimming or even try an aerobics class like Zumba. To continue shaping your figure, you can do exercises like squats, planks or push-ups, which will work different areas of your body. Also, to strengthen and tone your arms, don't forget to include a few bicep reps with weights in your workout.
Set goals
Everyone needs to know where to focus their efforts to maximise their results. You need to figure out whether or not your body needs to lose weight, and if so, how much weight you need to lose. Also, knowing which part of your body needs the most work will help you to decide on the most suitable exercises for it and to spend more time on it than the rest of your body. Setting long-term goals will also motivate you, because as you achieve them, you'll be able to set yourself tougher challenges, increasing their difficulty, so you will push yourself further every day and improve your results.
Natural sports supplements
Taking natural sports supplements is vital to ensure that these new habits are fully effective, as supplements and vitamins for tiredness will provide you with the nutrients your body needs to cope with each day.
One of Probelte Pharma’s most outstanding products is Keriba Sport, a natural food supplement based on POMANOX (extract of the whole fresh fruit of the pomegranate, Punica granatum L.), magnesium and vitamin B6.
A clinical study conducted by the Exercise Physiology Laboratory of the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) showed that Keriba Sport delays the onset of fatigue and exhaustion, reducing muscle damage and inflammation after physical exercise. This supplement is one of the best options for preventing and delaying physical tiredness, helping you to enhance your sporting performance.
In short, it's not just about getting beach body read for next summer, it's about changing your habits over time in order to achieve a healthy lifestyle that will physically and mentally prepare you for any moment of your life.
7 habits to combat ageing
Ageing is a physiological process that every human being has to go through in later life. It is the time when cells, organs and tissues begin to deteriorate. To help ensure that this happens gradually and as little as possible, it is necessary to make changes in certain daily habits.
Scientific breakthroughs are allowing people to live increasingly fulfilling lives thanks to the wide range of options that are available for this purpose. This means that nowadays we have the benefit of being able to add food supplements to a healthy and balanced diet to support our physical and psychological development.
Stress and the busy life we lead can have a negative impact on our health, leading to premature ageing. For this reason, there are certain products that help to improve our daily performance so that we can be at our best in all areas of life.
There are a variety of food supplements, each person needs specific vitamins and supplements depending on what they are lacking. For the symptoms of ageing, one good supplement is pomegranate capsules (antioxidant) made from natural extract obtained from whole fresh pomegranates.
Probelte Pharma would like to tell you about some habits to combat ageing:
Healthy diet
A varied diet is essential for your body to function properly, as all the foods that pass through it leave their mark and you should only supply your body with foods that benefit the way it functions. Ideally, you should eat five meals a day, with easily digestible foods, always limiting your intake of excess sugars.
Necessary rest
Although sleep naturally changes as we get older due to the passage of time, you should try to get enough rest to allow your body to recover and have enough energy to start each day feeling refreshed. It is therefore important to switch off when it is time to go to sleep, so that your mind is free of thoughts and you are not plagued by insomnia.
Weight control
Maintaining the right weight will benefit your bones and keep them strong for longer. Also, your skin is affected by changes in weight, so controlling your weight will prevent the loss of collagen and elastin, which are responsible for keeping your skin from looking saggy.
Physical activity
Exercising three times a week will improve your mobility and prevent the loss of muscle mass, which is vital for feeling strong and being ready to carry out your daily activities. Find a sport that you enjoy and that motivates you, either on your own or with others.
Free time
Having time for yourself is essential to combat ageing, as it allows you to enjoy your social life and to do things for pleasure. Also, if you are optimistic about life, you will be able to maintain a positive attitude that will help you in the ageing process.
Sun protection
Protecting yourself from the sun is essential to prevent your skin from being damaged by its rays, which can lead to rapid deterioration of the skin. It is very important that you do not only use sun protection in the summer months, as you are exposed to the sun 365 days a year without even noticing it.
Natural supplements
Probelte Pharma would also recommend that you use food supplements that improve your health thanks to the nutrients they contain. Keriba Forte with POMANOX is one of the best supplements for combating the signs of ageing. Pomegranate capsules provide the necessary dose of antioxidant and anti-ageing vitamins. The pomegranate is a fruit that grows naturally in the Himalayas and it is one of the reasons why the Himalayan people are so healthy.
The antioxidant effect of pomegranate capsules reduces cell damage caused by stress. This natural supplement acts as a regenerator of the cells in the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin, protecting it from UV radiation. It also prevents the appearance of wrinkles by stimulating collagen and elastin production. It also strengthens hair and prevents early hair loss.
Therefore, if you put the above habits into practice and also take the natural supplement Keriba Forte with POMANOX on a daily basis, you will be able to combat the vital, inevitable process of ageing as effectively as possible.
